How South Sudan Aid Is Making A Difference

Hear firsthand how our work is transforming lives—directly from the healthcare workers, partners, and communities we proudly serve.

"Before partnering with South Sudan Aid, we struggled to access even the most basic medical tools. Their support has transformed our ability to treat patients effectively and safely. Lives are being saved every day because of the supplies we now have."

Dr. Linda Obuya

"Working with South Sudan Aid gave our excess inventory a meaningful purpose. Instead of ending up in a landfill, our surplus equipment now supports clinics in critical need. It’s a win for people and the planet."

Mark Turner

"Thanks to the maternal health kits we received, mothers now give birth in safer conditions. We’ve seen a huge drop in complications and infant mortality."

Sister Maria Gomez

"In times of war, every bandage, every piece of equipment counts. South Sudan Aid’s rapid response provided our hospitals with the tools to keep going."

Disasters & Emergencies

Disasters and emergencies can strike without warning, leaving communities in urgent need of medical aid and support. South Sudan Aid responds swiftly with critical supplies to save lives and restore hope.

Whether facing a sudden emergency or a prolonged crisis, CARE Australia is committed to helping those in need across the Asia-Pacific and other regions where our support is most effective.

We partner with communities before, during, and after disasters to provide continuous support. From helping Pacific communities get ready for cyclones, to delivering aid in conflict zones like Ukraine, and assisting recovery efforts in Türkiye after destructive earthquakes, we stand alongside those affected, every step of the way.

Education & Livelihoods

Empowering communities through education and livelihood support is key to long-term recovery. South Sudan Aid helps individuals build sustainable futures with tools, training, and opportunity.

Access to education and employment are among the most effective ways to break the cycle of poverty.

Women deserve equal opportunities to essential resources like education, land, and financial support. CARE empowers women by helping them gain the skills, knowledge, and tools they need to thrive and lift their families out of poverty. We focus on improving access to quality education for all children—especially girls in vulnerable and conflict-affected areas—and support women in claiming their rights to employment, fair pay, and equal treatment.

Health

Health is at the heart of every thriving community. South Sudan Aid delivers essential medical supplies and support to strengthen healthcare systems and save lives.

Access to basic healthcare is vital for every family. Each day, around 800 women lose their lives due to preventable complications related to childbirth. Challenges like poverty, limited healthcare access, and weak infrastructure worsen maternal health and global health issues.

CARE focuses on improving health outcomes for women and girls by reinforcing local healthcare systems and community groups, expanding access to quality medical services, and addressing public health emergencies through strong, long-standing partnerships with governments, healthcare workers, and communities.

Food & Water

Access to nutritious food and clean water is vital for survival and dignity. South Sudan Aid provides life-saving resources to combat hunger and prevent waterborne diseases.

Hunger and malnutrition remain major global health challenges. CARE supports the most vulnerable communities with food and WASH (water, sanitation, and hygiene) programs. Without enough to eat, families struggle to escape poverty, children can’t learn, and women often go hungry so their families can eat, impacting their health and ability to work.

Over the past three years, conflict and climate change have worsened food insecurity. Farmers now face greater difficulty producing enough food for their families and local markets
